Coldplay has announced the release of their new album, Mylo Xyloto, will take place on October 24, 2011. Pronounced maileu zaileteu, this album will feature many singles such as the already released Every Teardrop is a Waterfall which has already received airplay. This English band has been together since 1997 and only gets better with each new release. Vocalist Chris Martin also plays piano and is accompanied by drummer Will Champion, guitarist Jonny Buckland and bassist Guy Berryman. They first became known when their 2000 single Yellow moved up the charts quickly.
The inspiration behind this album is old school graffiti and will feature a hardback book if you choose to purchase the special limited edition. This book will contain graffiti pop-up art. The are was designed by David A. Carter. In addition you will also receive studio diary excerpts, band’s personal notebooks, photographs and exclusive content. Along with the street graffiti, Coldplay has also been influenced by anti-Nazi movements. The band likes to chime in on social and political causes and are now using their music to help them achieve this goal.
If you hear some Jeff Buckley or U2 in the music of Coldplay, don’t be surprised. These are just two influences that Coldplay credits their sound to. They also feel they have been influenced by Travis, Radiohead and George Harrison along with Echo and the Bunnyman. As they develop as a band, their sound tends to change somewhat. You may even hear some Kraftwerk and Johny Cash in their music. It will be a treat to hear what musical influences played a role in the making of Mylo Xyloto.
Coldplay plans on releasing the single Paradiseon September 12, 2011 so be sure to snatch it up when it comes out.
